Amsterdam Wetlands

The area directly above Amsterdam is called ‘Waterland’. It is a low-lying peat meadow area with lots of ditches and lakes. The province and the government now call this ‘Amsterdam Wetlands’. Just like Zandvoort (which is a seaside village 35km away) is addressed as ‘Amsterdam Beach’. Or Muiderslot, located in the city Muiden, is named ‘Amsterdam Castle’. With the difference that they indicate with the Wetlands label that it’s not to attract tourists but to promote biodiversity in the area.

Well, it doesn’t really matter, just admire the scenery and come canoeing with a cow.
